SACRAMENTO – The U.S. Fuel Cell Council has honored Dr. Alan Lloyd, Chairman of the California Air Resources Board (ARB) as a "Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Pathfinder" in recognition of his efforts in leading the acceleration of fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen technologies.

"I am pleased and honored to be recognized for the work on hydrogen and fuel cells that I have been privileged to foster at ARB and the South Coast Air Quality Management District as well as at Desert Research Institute" Dr. Lloyd said. "It is critical that hydrogen and fuel cell technologies be advanced to attack smog and gain energy diversity as we move toward zero emissions," he added.

The U.S. Fuel Cell Council is an industry association dedicated to fostering the commercialization of fuel cells in the United States. Members include the world's leading fuel cell developers, manufacturers, suppliers and customers. The Council's "Pathfinder" award recognizes Dr. Lloyd's long commitment to a hydrogen future and his stewardship as Chairman of both the ARB and California Fuel Cell Partnership for 2003.

Dr. Lloyd is also a co-founder of the California Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative, a group of organizations dedicated to commercializing stationary fuel cells for power applications in California. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Energy and Environmental Engineering Center at the Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada and was chief scientist for the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
