Diesel Truck and Bus Inspections Begin

-- Just a reminder that the California Environmental Protection Agency's Air Resources Board (ARB) will officially begin its roadside heavy-duty diesel truck and bus smoke inspection program tomorrow, June 3, 1998.

A media availability starts at 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. at the Port of Sacramento.

Who: ARB Chairman John Dunlap and California Trucking Association (Invited). Chairman Dunlap will be available from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
What: Photo Oppportunity for State's Roadside Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck and Bus Smoke Inspection Program
When: Wednesday, June 3, 1998, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Where: Sacramento's Port of Sacramento, West Sacramento Intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Industrial Blvd.
Why: The inspection program is being implemented to assure that heavy-duty diesel vehicles meet California's air emissions standards. Heavy-Duty vehicles have not been subject to any type of routine emission inspections since 1993.
