Roadside Inspection of Heavy-Duty Diesels: Photo Opportunity

SACRAMENTO -- The California Environmental Protection Agency's Air Resources Board (ARB) will officially begin its roadside heavy-duty diesel truck and bus smoke inspection program next week. A media availability and photo opportunity on the inspections is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 1998, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Sacramento, Los Angeles and the Bay Area.

What: Photo-Opportunity for State's Roadside Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck and Bus Smoke Inspection Program
When: Wednesday, June 3, 1998, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Where: -- Los Angeles' CHP Scales, Valencia- I-5 Northbound (Opposite Magic Mountain)
  -- Oakland's Port of Oakland, Corner of Maritime and 14th, Last Exit Before Bay Bridge Toll Booth
  -- Sacramento's Port of Sacramento, West Sacramento Intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Industrial Blvd.
Why: The inspection program is being implemented to assure that heavy-duty diesel vehicles meet California's air emissions standards. Heavy-duty vehicles have not been subject to any type of routine emission inspections since 1993.
