California Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP)
Get up to $7,000 to purchase or lease a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), battery electric vehicle (BEV), or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). Rebates are available to California residents that meet income levels and purchase or lease an eligible vehicle.
CVRP Rebate Amounts
|Step 1||Are you a California resident?|
California residents must also provide a copy of a current California Driver’s license when applying for a rebate.
|Step 2||For a CVRP rebate, is your household income at or below the listed income caps?|
Standard CVRP Rebate
Annual household income must be at or below the income caps listed below.
- $150,000 for single filers
- $204,000 for head-of-household filers
- $300,000 for joint filers
Incomes that exceed the above levels are eligible for fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) rebates only.

An additional $2,000 is available for lower-income consumers with household incomes less than 300% of the federal poverty level. The chart below shows eligibility based on income and family size for this category:

Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)
Rebate $2,500. Add $2,000 for a total of $4,500 for lower-income consumers.
Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)
Rebate $1,500. Add $2,000 for a total of $3,500 for lower-income consumers.
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV)
Rebate $5,000. Add $2,000 for a total of $7,000 for lower-income consumers.
|Step 5||Visit CleanVehicleRebate.org and apply for a rebate within 18 months of vehicle lease or purchase.|
