Please consider the following news release from the California Air Resources Board: http://bit.ly/1Shu9I6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 10, 2016 NEWS RELEASE 16-04 CONTACT: Dave Clegern dave.clegern@arb.ca.gov (916) 322-2990 Air Resources Board Chair says California climate efforts unchanged by Supreme Court stay of Clean Power Plan Sacramento — On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a stay against the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan. The Clean Power Plan puts greenhouse gas emission reduction requirements on the nation’s power plants. Those plants, which generate much of the nation’s electricity, also generate the largest share of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. "The Supreme Court's narrowly procedural ruling may create some temporary confusion, but we are confident that the Clean Power Plan will prevail”, said Air Resources Board Chair Mary D. Nichols. “California will not slow down our drive for clean air, renewable energy, and the good jobs that come from investing in green technologies." The Court’s narrow, preliminary, ruling, does not disturb the CPP’s status as enacted federal law. Accordingly, ARB is moving ahead to plan for implementation of CPP. This includes holding public workshops and proposing amendments that will enable California to submit a final CPP plan if the Board approves it and any related amendments.
