X-ray technology reveals California's forests are in for a

California Air Resources Board Approves New Pollution-Scrubbing
Technology Sponsored by the Long Beach Port 
The Port of Long Beach (POLB) announced today that a special kind
of pollution-scrubbing barge technology, sponsored by the port,
was approved by the California Air Resources Board. According to
a release, the port provided approximately $2 million in seed
money to test the so-called Advanced Maritime Emissions Control
System (AMECS), which provides an alternative power source to
container ships by allowing them to plug in to the electrical
grid to reduce emissions while at berth.

Dispute over rigged ship engine tests adds to Volkswagen's woes
Norwegian shipowner I.M. Skaugen has disclosed it is seeking $50
million in compensation from a marine unit of Volkswagen for
rigging performance tests of ship engines produced over a decade

VW Halts Sales in EU of Diesels With Scandal-Hit Engine
Volkswagen has stopped sales in the 28-country European Union of

German State Files Criminal Complaint Over Missing VW File
The German state of Lower Saxony has filed a criminal complaint
after discovering that a file on scandal-hit Volkswagen had
disappeared. A spokeswoman for the state government says the
file, which included internal government memos on the emissions
scandal, was last seen on Friday, Oct. 9.

The following editorial appeared in The Dallas Morning News on
Wednesday, Oct. 21: What did Exxon executives know about global
