arbcombo -- PUBLIC WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE SMALL OFF-ROAD ENGINE REGULATIONS

Posted: 14 Oct 2015 08:31:51
The Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) invites you to participate
in a public workshop to learn about updates to the ARB small
off-road engine (SORE) regulations, including the use of 10
percent ethanol fuel to conduct certification testing for
evaporative emissions and improvements to the certification and
test procedures. Future regulatory proposals, including the need
for more stringent exhaust and evaporative emission standards and
increasing availability of zero-emission equipment will also be
discussed. The workshop will consist of a presentation by staff
lasting approximately 30 minutes, followed by a question and
answer session.

The workshop will be held at the following locations and times.
The information presented at each workshop location will be
identical.

Date: November 2, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PST
Location:	Cal EPA Building
		Byron Sher Auditorium
		1001 I Street
		Sacramento, California 95814

Date: November 4, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PST
Location:	South Coast Air Quality Management District
		Auditorium
		21865 Copley Drive
		Diamond Bar, California 91765

Background: Small off-road engines are spark-ignited engines
rated at 19 kilowatts or less. They are used in applications
such as lawn and garden, industrial, construction and mining,
logging, airport ground support, commercial utility, and farm
equipment, golf carts, and specialty vehicles. Without
additional controls, reactive organic gas emissions from SORE are
expected to be higher than those for any other mobile source
category in California by the mid-2020s. To help meet ozone
ambient air quality standard attainment deadlines and climate
goals, additional emissions reductions and an increase in the
adoption of zero-emission equipment are needed.

Participants are encouraged to attend in person. An audio
conference line will be set up to accommodate those who are
unable to attend in person. The workshop agenda, call-in
details, and an electronic copy of the staff presentation will be
posted by October 30 on ARB’s website at:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/offroad/sore/sore.htm.

The workshop locations are accessible to persons with
disabilities. If you need special accommodation or have language
needs, please contact Andrea McStocker at (916) 322-3966 as soon
as possible. TTY/TDD Speech-to-Speech users may dial 711 for the
California Relay Service.
