arbcombo -- Community Meeting to Discuss the Format for Evaluating and Addressing Non-Cancer Health Effects

In June and July 2007, Air Resources Board (ARB) staff presented to the public draft railyard health risk assessments for seven railyards located in Southern California. These were prepared under the 2005 Railroad Agreement between ARB and Union Pacific Railroad (UP) and BNSF Railway (BNSF). Since then, ARB staff has been reviewing the comments and incorporating appropriate changes to finalize the health risk assessments (HRA). ARB staff expects the HRAs to be completed by November 1, 2007. As a separate effort from the HRAs, ARB staff would now like to meet with air district staff, community members, and the railroads to discuss the format for evaluating and addressing non-cancer health effects, especially PM mortality.
