asbestos -- Asbestos -- ARB Presentation at Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists’ Asbestos Symposium held Dec. 18, 2014
Posted: 26 Jan 2015 13:54:42
California Air Resources Board (ARB) staff has posted a presentation given at the 2014 Naturally Occurring Asbestos Symposium of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists held at the Oakland Convention Center on December 18. The presentation covered topics that are being considered for ARB’s draft guidance document “Good Field Sampling and Laboratory Practices – Air Resources Board Test Method 435 Determination of Asbestos Content of Serpentine Aggregate.” The presentation can be found at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/toxics/asbestos/tm435/workshops/aegpres.pdf In lieu of making formal regulatory changes to Test Method 435 (M435), this guidance document is being prepared to assist laboratories, consultants, local air pollution control districts, and other stakeholders in the application and performance of M435. It is expected that following the guidelines for sample collection, processing, and analysis specified in this document will result in more accurate and repeatable M435 asbestos content measurements for potential asbestos-containing aggregates. Staff anticipates finalizing a draft of the guidance document that will be posted for comments by spring of 2015. Comments on the December 2014 presentation can be provided to Rebecca Neumann at (916) 324-1145, or by email at Rebecca.Neumann@arb.ca.gov.
