bus-act -- Advanced Clean Transit Website Update
Posted: 28 Aug 2014 10:39:28
The Public Transit Agencies website has been reorganized under the name Advanced Clean Transit to combine all information on transit fleet regulations. The updated website will be used for information about proposed regulation amendments that would promote Advanced Clean Transit. The goal is to further reduce criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions from transit fleet vehicles while continuing to foster the commercialization of zero emission technologies. The website also includes all past information about Transit Fleet Vehicle, Urban Bus, and Zero Emission Bus requirements. The Advanced Clean Transit website is at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/bus/bus.htm In addition, three different listservs for transit fleet vehicles, urban bus and zero emission buses have now been combined into a single listserv "bus-act." If you have questions about these changes, please contact Lynsay Carmichael, at lynsay.carmichael@arb.ca.gov or (916) 322-0407. Background: Adopted in 2000, the Fleet Rule for Transit Agencies (Transit Fleet Rule) required reductions in both criteria pollutant emissions and exposure to air contaminants from urban buses and transit fleet vehicles. The transit fleet rule also established a demonstration and purchase requirement of zero emission buses for large transit agencies. Some transit agencies are actively operating and demonstrating zero emission fuel cell and battery electric buses; however, the zero emission bus purchase requirement is currently on hold.
