Calexico City Council to hold conference with legal counsel
regarding Imperial County Air Pollution Control District fine. 
As the city continues working with the Imperial County Air
Pollution Control District to reduce a fine imposed on it last
month in regard to their wastewater treatment plant, Calexico
City Council members will meet in closed session today to hold
conference with legal counsel for anticipated litigation.

Australian PM's climate stance watched on US visit. The United

Minister Tony Abbott visits the United States climate change

Discussion on 100-year-old water rights delayed until July. The
State Water Resources Control Board will push back its discussion
of curtailing 100-year-old water rights to July 1.The board
planned to bring up the controversial issue at its meeting next
week, but apparently its staff needs more time to prepare.

GREEN ENERGY

SF board to consider deal on clean-energy plan. Six weeks after
Mayor Ed Lee proposed raiding a $19.5 million Public Utilities
Commission fund set aside to help pay for a clean-energy program
supported by the Board of Supervisors - and three weeks after a
board committee rejected the entire PUC budget because of Lee's
stated intention - Supervisor John Avalos brokered a compromise
deal that will preserve around $7 million for CleanPowerSF.

Why Greenbacks Aren't Going Toward Green Energy.  EPA Inflicts
Mortal Wound on King Coal. Coal-fired power in the United States
should start to ebb as regulations targeting pollution come into
effect. More power, in turn, is coming online in the form of
green energy resources, but so far, the money isn't backing that
momentum. U.S. coal production during the first quarter of 2014
was down 1.1 percent year-on-year and should continue that trend

OPINIONS

Global warming.  I keep reading articles from people who are of
the opinion that global warming is a natural occurrence every ten
thousand years or so and that nothing we do has any effect on it.
It seems like they’re trying to argue the point with some
reasonable logic and I agree with them to a point. I don’t claim
to be an expert on the subject but I would like to share some
common sense on the matter. I’ve read that there is evidence of
ice ages occurring in the past due to global warming…Posted.

Facts & Figures: Americans O.K. With Paying to Curb Climate
Change.  By an almost two-to-one margin, 62 percent to 33
percent, Americans say they would pay more for energy if it would
mean a reduction in pollution from carbon emissions, according to
the Bloomberg National Poll. While Republicans were split, with
46 percent willing to pay more and 49 percent opposed to it, 82
percent of Democrats and 60 percent of independents say they’d

California climate policies offer roadmap for EPA carbon rule.
You’ve heard it before: As California goes, so goes the nation.
So as states try to get their arms around the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency’s new Clean Power Plan, we can look to
California for some helpful pointers. Granted, there are many
roads to follow and for this journey, states are very much in the
driver’s seat. They choose how to best reduce carbon pollution
from their power plant by 30 percent over the next 15 years – as
