ghg-ver -- Verification Accreditation Training for New Verifiers—Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Regulation
Posted: 04 Mar 2014 18:22:29
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) is conducting verifier accreditation training and exams for new verifiers March 10-14, 2014 in Pasadena and April 7-11 in Sacramento. There are several seats remaining in each training. Please let us know if you meet the required experience to become a lead verifier and are interested in applying for accreditation to practice verification of Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data Reports. To participate in this accreditation training and exam, candidates must demonstrate four or more years as a project manager or lead person in the development of GHG or other air emissions inventories or as a lead environmental data or financial auditor in the private sector. Two of the four years may be graduate-level work. Candidates will be prescreened for required education and professional experience. Please contact ghgverify@arb.ca.gov or call Suzanne Hambleton at 916.323.2308 if you have questions. Additional information is provided below. Course Overview The training consists of one required course and three optional sector-specialty courses. Course 1 is the general verification training focusing on the reporting and verification requirements in the Greenhouse Gas Mandatory Reporting Regulation. Course 1 is required for all verifier candidates pursuing ARB verifier accreditation. Course 1 covers verification techniques as well as reporting requirements for stationary fuel combustion, electricity generating units, cogeneration operations, and covered product data. The transactions specialty, Course 2, covers techniques for verifying electric power entities, suppliers of petroleum products, biofuels, natural gases, liquefied petroleum gas and carbon dioxide. The oil and gas sector systems specialty, Course 3, covers techniques for verifying petroleum refineries, hydrogen production and petroleum and natural gas production systems. The process emissions specialty, Course 4, covers techniques for verifying seven specific industries (cement production, glass production, lime manufacturing, pulp and paper manufacturing, iron and steel production, nitric acid production, and lead production) which produce process emissions. Verifier candidates are encouraged to attend all three optional sector specific courses. However, ARB will only accredit verifiers that have at least two years of professional experience related to the sector in which they are seeking accreditation (MRR section 95132(b)(5)).
