ab32publichealth -- CAT-PHWG UPDATE: Safeguarding California: Reducing Climate Risks (plus, upcoming workshops)

Posted: 15 Jan 2014 10:55:10
The Climate Action Team Public Health Workgroup Update:.

Dear Public Health Leaders,

The draft plan “Safeguarding California: Reducing Climate Risks”,
an update to the state’s 2009 Climate Adaptation Strategy, is now
being circulated for public review and comment through Feb. 28,
2014. CDPH contributed to the Public Health chapter, but this is
the first time it has been circulated for public comment.

Workshops
Natural Resource is also hosting two workshops** at which the
plan will be discussed and public comment collected. Both CDPH
and Natural Resources Agency staff leading this effort are eager
to hear from our local, regional and other public health and
environmental health stakeholders about issues that are important
to be included in the Public Health chapter and overall
Safeguarding California plan. This plan will guide the state’s
adaptation work for the next 3-5 years so it not only should
capture our work today but anticipate upcoming needs and
priorities.

If I can provide any additional information on the plan or the
comment process please do not hesitate to call on me.

Reminder:
Next meeting of the CAT PHWG is on Thursday, February 27 at
1 pm at the Cal/EPA building, Sacramento.
