Thank You Dimitri Stanich ARB/PIO _______________________________________________________________ Release 07-32 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 15, 2007 Patricia Rey (916) 322-2990 www.arb.ca.gov MEDIA ADVISORY San Joaquin Valley air quality task force and community meetings Fresno, Parlier and Arvin FRESNO - The ARB will host two task force meetings and two community meetings to hear from task force members and residents about local air quality concerns in the San Joaquin Valley. The task force is charged to explore ideas to accelerate air quality progress for the region through additional programs and specific strategies. The group is comprised of members of environmental/community groups, local businesses/industries and government. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about current ARB efforts and share ideas on additional measures to be considered to accomplish cleaner air. The task force meetings will take place at the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District located at 1990 E Gettysburg Avenue in Fresno and are scheduled as follows: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 1-5 pm Thursday, August 30, 2007 10 am-3 pm The community meetings are scheduled as follows: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 6-8 pm Kearney Agricultural Center 9240 South Riverbend Avenue Parlier, CA Wednesday, August 29, 2007 6-8 pm City of Arvin Veterans' Hall 414 4th Avenue Arvin, CA The ARB encourages the attendance of community members and the media to discuss ways to address their air quality concerns and let their voices be heard. Input received at these meetings will be incorporated into a report to present to the ARB and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District in September. Additional task force meetings will be held through the end of the calendar year with a final update to the ARB board members in January 2008. Spanish language translation will be available at these events. The Air Resources Board is a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency. ARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. The ARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards. #####
