The California Air Resources Board (ARB) wants model year 2005 transport refrigeration unit (TRU) owners to be aware that this Friday, August 31st is the last day to purchase replacement engines and units to ensure they will qualify for a compliance extension if delivery or installation is delayed beyond the December 31st deadline. Model year 2005 TRU engines must comply with the TRU Regulation’s in-use performance standards by December 31, 2012. Purchase orders for replacement engines or units that are placed after August 31st will not qualify for compliance extension if delivery or installation is delayed past December 31, 2012. To qualify for these compliance extensions due to delayed delivery or installation, the TRU must be registered in ARBER and purchase orders must be placed by the purchase order deadlines: • For engine repowers and TRU replacements: By Friday, August 31st • For verified diesel particulate filter retrofits: By Wednesday, October 31st Compliance extension applications, with attached supporting documentation, must be received at ARB by December 31, 2012.
