omb -- TRU (reefer) owners time is running out to qualify for compliance extension
Posted: 15 Dec 2011 10:51:46
Owners of model year 2004 transport refrigeration units (TRU or reefer) that would like to qualify for an extension to the compliance deadline must order compliance equipment and submit an application to the California Air Resources Board by close of business, December 31, 2011. Time is running out to place orders for compliance technology. Applications for extension must be submitted by December 31, 2011, with documentation that shows the date that compliance equipment was ordered. Documentation must also include the supplier’s statement of estimated delivery and expected installation date. Application forms, with instructions, are available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/arber/trureg/2011extensions.htm General information about the TRU in-use standards, compliance dates, and other aspects of the TRU regulation is available at the TRU Website at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru/tru.htm As background, a recent amendment to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure allows the Executive Officer to extend the compliance deadline for meeting the in-use performance standards up to four months if there is a delay in the delivery or installation of the needed emissions control technology. If you have questions, please call the TRU help line at: 1-888-878-2826 or (916) 327-8737.
