Webinar on CoolCalifornia Challenge, a pilot greenhouse gas
reduction competition for California communities.

Thursday, November 3rd, 1:30-3PM PST

CoolCalifornia.org will hold an informational webinar on
Thursday, November 3rd from 1:30-3:00PM on the CoolCalifornia
Challenge, a pilot carbon footprint reduction competition between
up to three California communities. The competition will
acknowledge individuals who have already taken steps to reduce
their carbon footprints and motivate others to reduce their
impact through a targeted community-based social marketing
campaign, creating a buzz around sustainability and giving
momentum to existing environmental programs in participating
communities.

CoolCalifornia.org is currently seeking applications from
consortia of local governments and community-based organizations
interested in participating in the competition, which is
scheduled to run for one year starting in early 2012. This
webinar will describe the goals, timeline, expectations, draft
rules, guiding theories and resources available for the program.

The Community Challenge is a research project sponsored by the
California Air Resources Board, and conducted by researchers at
the University of California, Berkeley, in collaboration with
community-based organizations and local governments. The results
of this pilot program will help inform the development of similar
programs throughout the state and beyond by providing local
governments and community-based organizations with an effective
and replicable program model.
