What's New List Serve Post Display

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) staff has posted the
preliminary draft results of the 2010 Aerosol Coating and Aerosol
Adhesive Products Survey at the following address:

 Comments on the preliminary draft results are due by September
23, 2011.  

Summary:  ARB staff conducted a survey for Aerosol Coating and
Aerosol Adhesive products to obtain data for products that were
sold or supplied for use in California during calendar year 2010.
 Reported California sales of approximately 40 tons per day of
Aerosol Coating products resulted in reactive organic compound
(ROC) emissions of about 30 tons per day.  Reported California
sales of approximately 2 tons per day of Aerosol Adhesive
products resulted in ROC emissions of about 1.5 tons per day. 
These data will serve as the basis for developing amendments to
the Aerosol Coatings Regulation to further reduce emissions.

Background:  ARB’s Consumer Products Program, which includes
Aerosol Coatings and Aerosol Adhesives, is an important part of
overall efforts to reduce the amount of smog-forming reactive
organic compounds, toxic air contaminants and greenhouse gases
that are emitted from the use of chemically formulated consumer
products.  ARB’s consumer products regulations have resulted in
projected emission reductions of nearly 50 percent since 1990,
but more needs to be done to meet health-based air quality
standards.
