Extension of ECS’ Purifilter PlusTM for On-road Applications. 

The Air Resources Board granted an extension for Engine Control
Systems’ Purifilter PlusTM as a Level 3 Plus passively and
actively regenerated diesel emission control system for use with
certain on-road vehicles with model years between 1994 and 2010,
certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. 
Approved engines are certified to particulate matter emission
levels equal to or less than 0.1 grams per brake horsepower-hour,
and may or may not be equipped with exhaust gas recirculation
systems (EGR).  The extension excludes EGR engines certified with
diesel oxidation catalysts.  Purifilter PlusTM uses a catalyzed
silicon carbide wall-flow filter for passive regeneration and
electric heating elements for active regeneration.  It achieves
at least an 85 percent reduction in emissions of diesel
particulate matter.  Specific conditions for which Purifilter
PlusTM has been approved may be found in the conditional
extension letter which will be posted within ten days on the ARB
