Battleground California. Because of how they ask their
questions, pollsters are still reporting that energy, climate,
and the environment are off the political radar in 2010. Just
how wrong they are is spectacularly on display here in
California, where the biggest political issue shaping up this
fall is the cluster of energy/climate/environmental protection.

Recycling waste isn't a waste of time for surfboard form maker.
San Clemente, California (CNN) -- Joey Santley's flip-flops
rhythmically clap as he strolls through San Clemente's surf
ghetto, a cluster of boxy surfboard-making businesses. This
chatterbox entrepreneur spouts out ideas like big waves churn up
foam. Surfing is a sport with a black spot on its eco-friendly
soul, and Santley thinks he found a way to cleanse it. Posted.

Editorial: California's green jobs fleeing, too? Advocates for
government picking and choosing winners and losers tout "green
jobs" as the saviors of the economy. Although it is sometimes
grudgingly conceded that higher taxes and Draconian regulations
to curb greenhouse gas emissions harm conventional businesses,
the idea is that green employers and green jobs will more than
pick up the slack. At least, that's the argument. Posted.

Opinion: Big oil and clean energy. It is no secret that the
recession is posing challenges for Northern California
businesses. Yet our business is growing. Why? Largely because we
manufacture products that cater to Americans who believe in a
clean-energy future, and because we have become energy efficient
ourselves. Our commitment to the environment is what motivates us
to come to work every day. It drives us to provide a trusted
brand and a portfolio of quality products aimed at helping
humanity solve the environmental challenges ahead. Posted.

The ‘eco’ economy. Used to be a “green” job was one that paid
off in greenbacks. But now, when politicians like Gov. Arnold
Schwarzenegger, environmentalists, futurists and business owners
tout green jobs and a green economy, it means something entirely
different. Problem is, no one’s sure exactly what. Posted.
