hdghg -- Clarification of Registration Deadline for California Air Resources Board Tractor-Trailer GHG Regulation

The California Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) recently announced its intent to consider regulatory amendments to the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Measure (Tractor-Trailer GHG Regulation) at a hearing planned for September 2010. These proposed changes include adding additional flexibility to the registration and reporting requirements for large fleets participating in the optional large fleet compliance schedule. THESE CHANGES HAVE NOT YET BEEN ADOPTED. Therefore, fleets that choose to participate in the optional large fleet phase-in should register with ARB by July 1, 2010 as specified in the currently adopted regulation. If the proposed amendments are adopted at the September 2010 Board hearing, large fleets may then opt into the second optional compliance schedule. Fleets that choose not to register by the current July 1, 2010 deadline run the risk of not being able to participate in an optional phase-in should the proposed amendments not be adopted.
