arbcombo -- Modification to the ESW ThermaCat Verification

Posted: 10 Feb 2010 16:04:01
Extension revising the engine family list of ESW Canada’s
verified ThermaCatTM System for On-Road Applications.

The Air Resources Board (ARB) has revised the engine family list
of ESW Canada’s ThermaCatTM diesel retrofit system for certain
on-road vehicles equipped with heavy-duty diesel engines with
model years between 1993 and 2006. Approved engines are
certified or equivalent to a particulate matter emission level
equal to or less than 0.1 grams per brake horsepower-hour, and
are not equipped with exhaust gas recirculation systems. The
ThermaCatTM system reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter
by at least 85 percent and is designated as a Level 3 plus
system. The primary components of the actively regenerated
ThermaCatTM system include a silicon carbide wall-flow filter, a
diesel oxidation catalyst and a system controller. The
ThermaCatTM system is compatible with on-road vehicles using
diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific
conditions for which the ThermaCatTM system has been approved may
be found in the Executive Order DE-09-015-01, posted on the ARB
website at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/verdev/verdev.htm .
