Modification of Caterpillar DPF Verification. The Air Resources Board verified the Caterpillar Diesel Particulate Filter as a Level 3 Plus passively regenerating diesel emission control system for use with off-road diesel engines, model years 1996 through 2008, certified with particulate matter emissions equal to or less than 0.2 grams per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp-hr), and rated to 175 horsepower through 600 horsepower. The verification has been modified requiring that off-road engines be certified with oxides of nitrogen (NOx) or non-methane hydrocarbon plus NOx emissions at or greater than 5.1 grams per kilowatt hour (3.8 g/bhp-hr). Specific conditions for which the Caterpillar DPF has been approved may be found in the Executive Order which will be posted within ten days on the ARB website at http://www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/verdev/verdev.htm .
