The course discusses uses of boilers, heat transfer methods and fundamentals of operation of modern industrial and utility boilers including those fired by natural gas, biomass, municipal waste and coal (circulating fluidized bed units). 08/04/2009 Sacramento Course 272: Stationary Gas Turbines http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=272 A brief description: With an increase in demand of the electric utility industry, stationary gas turbines have become more popular in recent years as combined-cycles, peaking power plants and cogeneration facilities. The course discusses uses of gas turbines, fundamentals of operation of modern turbines with emphasis on state-of-the-art controls to achieve some of the lowest emission concentrations for this source category. 08/17/2009 Orange County - CLOSED Course 310: Comprehensive Cal/EPA Basic Inspector Academy http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=310 A brief description: The Basic Inspector Academy (BIA) is designed to teach environmental agency inspectors and other environmental compliance professional's core knowledge and skills to encourage cross media awareness needed to conduct quality inspections. A prerequisite to the classroom portion of the Academy is an online course. 08/18/2009 Bay Area Course 199: Introduction to Control Devices http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=199 A brief description: This two day course is aimed at the new, entry-level as well as semi experienced stationary source inspectors, permit engineer, regulatory agency staff, and environmental specialists in business and government. This course will provide a detailed introduction to air pollution control equipment and methods used to control particulate and gaseous air emissions. 08/18/2009 San Joaquin Valley APCD - MORNING COURSE Course 504: In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation Training http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=504 A brief description: The Air Resources Board has a new regulation to reduce emissions from existing off-road diesel vehicles used in California in construction, mining, and other industries. The In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation will reduce the public's exposure to cancer-causing exhaust and other pollution from diesel vehicles. 08/18/2009 San Joaquin Valley APCD - AFTERNOON COURSE Course 504: In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation Training http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=504 A brief description: The Air Resources Board has a new regulation to reduce emissions from existing off-road diesel vehicles used in California in construction, mining, and other industries. This course will address PM 2. 08/26/2009 South Coast Course 340: Gasoline Facilities Phase I and II Seminar http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=340 A brief description: As of April 1st 2009 13,000 Gas stations were required to have one of the four CARB certified vapor recovery systems installed. This two day seminar presents a complete overview of the gasoline vapor recovery program.
