arbcombo -- Proposition 1B/Distribution of Initial Bond Funds to Restart Lower-Emission School Bus Program Projects

ARB has posted a list showing the distribution of initial bond funds to restart a subset of Proposition 1B projects for goods movement and school buses on the ARB website. The Board awarded over $193 million in funds for the Lower-Emission School Bus Program projects in grants to local air districts. These projects have been suspended since December 2008 due to the lack of bond funding. ARB has now received $83 million in bond monies to support these existing grant awards. The posted list indicates which local air districts are receiving these initial funds. ARB will formally notify local air districts via letter that they are authorized to restart certain projects up to the specified dollar amounts. When the letters are sent, ARB will post them on the webpage. On May 28, 2009, the Board will consider staff’s proposal to extend deadlines in the current Program Guidelines, amend existing grant agreements, and expand Executive Officer authority to make additional changes to the Program Guidelines, if needed to effectively implement the program within statute and Board established guidance and goals.
