What's New List Serve Post Display

The staff of the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and the
Climate Action Reserve (CAR), formerly known as the California
Climate Action Registry, invite you to participate in the last of
three joint public workshops to discuss updates to the CAR Forest
Project Protocol on April 29, 2009.  The full version of the
updated protocol will be released on April 15, prior to the
workshop. Following a public comment period, the updated protocol
is expected to be presented to an upcoming meeting of the Air
Resources Board for adoption.

When the Air Resources Board adopted version 2.1 of the CAR
forest protocols in October 2007, the Board directed ARB staff to
initiate a process to update the protocols to encourage broader
forest sector involvement and reduce potential barriers to
participation.  ARB staff requested CAR to form a Forest Protocol
Workgroup to address those issues, and others, in order to update
the protocol methods to reflect current science.  The Workgroup
has recommended additional changes to:  improve guidance for
calculations; better address leakage, permanence, and baseline;
incorporate harvested wood products carbon accounting; and
improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of methods.  The
Workgroup’s recommendations to update the Forest Project Protocol
will be presented and discussed at the workshop.

ARB and CAR welcome public participation and comments.  The
