This is to advise public transit agencies that diesel or alternative fueled Transit Fleet Vehicles (TFV) 14,000 pounds (lbs) gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or less may not be subject to the Fleet Rules for Transit Agencies. A TFV is defined as an on-road vehicle greater than 8,500 lbs GVWR powered by a heavy-duty engine (HDE) fueled by diesel or alternative fuel, owned or operated by a transit agency, and which is not an urban bus. TFV’s with GVWR 14,000 lbs or less with engines not certified to the heavy-duty service class are not subject to the Fleet Rule for Transit Agencies.
