The program is intended for new, entry-level stationary source inspectors, regulatory agency staff, and environmental specialists in business and government. 03/10/2009 Course 504: In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation Training http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=504 The State Air Resources Board (ARB) has a new regulation to reduce emissions from existing off-road diesel vehicles used in California in construction, mining, and other industries. The In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation will reduce the public's exposure to cancer-causing exhaust and other pollution from diesel vehicles. The regulation requires fleet owners to retrofit, repower, or replace their off-road diesel fueled vehicles gradually over the next decade. 03/11/2009 Course 100.1: Recertification Day http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=100.1 The completion of Course #100 Fundamental of Enforcement with California Air Resources Board is required for anyone who seeks VEE certification or recertification from California Air Resources Board. This is also a requirement for anyone who seeks to be listed under VEE with the California Air Resources Board Independent Contractor's Program. This is to ensure all CARB certified VEE readers meet our standard of certification and understand the California VEE laws. 03/12/2009 Course 395: Fugitive Emissions Operator Training http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=395 This one-day course provides training in fugitive emissions monitoring procedures for technical field staff at refineries, marketing terminals, and oil and gas production facilities. Topics covered include: component identification and counting; performance quality assurance for portable hydrocarbon analyzers; preparing portable hydrocarbon analyzers for field use; component screening procedures; factors affecting accuracy of measurements; and emissions inventory overview. The course will assist fugitive monitoring operators in following uniform and consistent methods statewide. 03/18/2009 Course 507: Transportation Refrigeration Units http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=507 The Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) for In-Use Diesel-Fueled Transport Refrigera-tion Units (TRUs) became effective Dec. 31, 2004. This approximately 3-hour presentation will show both TRU facilities and TRU owner/operators who are affected, what they need to do to comply and by what date must they be in compliance. 03/18/2009 Course 100.1: Recertification Day http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=100.1 The completion of Course #100 Fundamental of Enforcement with California Air Resources Board is required for anyone who seeks VEE certification or recertification from California Air Resources Board. This course consists of four hours of lecture and four hours of field training. The emphasis is on a strategy for achieving reductions from a large number of small sources operating in a variety of environmental conditions. 03/24/2009 Course 273: Industrial Boilers http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=273 Boilers are one of the most common emission sources and range in use from small fire tube boilers to large utility boilers associated with power plant facilities. The course discusses uses of boilers, heat transfer methods and fundamentals of operation of modern industrial and utility boilers including those fired by natural gas, biomass, municipal waste and coal (circulating fluidized bed units). The course also discusses steam turbines and power generation. 03/25/2009 Course 272: Stationary Gas Turbines http://www.arb.ca.gov/training/courses.php?course=272 With an increase in demand of the electric utility industry, stationary gas turbines have become more popular in recent years as combined-cycles, peaking power plants and cogeneration facilities. The course discusses uses of gas turbines, fundamentals of operation of modern turbines with emphasis on state-of-the-art controls to achieve some of the lowest emission concentrations for this source category. The course also discusses combined cycles with HRSG units, steam turbines and power generation.
