arbcombo -- Draft Diesel Particulate Matter Mitigation Plans for Four Southern California Railyards

As part of its efforts to promote a comprehensive railyard
emissions reduction program, the California Air Resources Board
(ARB), in cooperation with BNSF Railway (BNSF) and Union Pacific
Railroad (UP), is releasing initial draft mitigation plans for
the following four Southern California railyards: BNSF San
Bernardino, BNSF Hobart (Commerce), UP Commerce, and UP
Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF)/Dolores (Long
Beach). These documents can be found on the ARB Railyard HRA
website:

Two additional draft mitigation plans will be released within
the next week for two other Commerce railyards:  BNSF
Commerce/Eastern and BNSF Sheila Mechanical.  Another ten draft
railyard mitigation plans are scheduled for release this Fall. 


Notices will be released shortly with dates, times, and
locations for public meetings to discuss and provide verbal and
written comments on the six initial draft railyard mitigation
plans.  These public meetings will be held in the next four to
six weeks.  Public comments will be accepted for at least 30
days after the public meetings.  Public meeting notices will
also be released this Fall for the other ten draft railyard
mitigation plans.

The public is encouraged to comment on all draft railyard
mitigation plans.  Comments may be submitted in writing, by
telephone, or via email to:  Mr. Harold Holmes, Manager,
