actruck -- Public Workgroup Meeting to Discuss Advanced Clean Local Trucks Regulation
Posted: 03 Aug 2017 10:44:12
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) invites you to participate in a public workgroup meeting to discuss potential strategies for accelerating deployment of zero emission truck technologies. The workgroup will include an analysis of costs of advanced and conventional truck technologies in the California market, a discussion of the state of the advanced technologies market and ongoing developments, factors affecting the demand of zero-emission vehicles, revisions to the previously discussed Engine-Efficiency Ratio draft paper, and a discussion focused solely on the Class 2B-3 market. The public workgroup meeting is open to the public and in-person participation is strongly encouraged. The workgroup meeting will be held at the following location and times: Date: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (PST) Place: Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, Coastal Hearing Room, Second Floor 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California 95814 Directions: https://goo.gl/maps/x1iswHHwiJT2 The workgroup meeting will also be available via webcast for stakeholders who are unable to attend in person and can be accessed on the day of the workgroup meeting at: https://video.calepa.ca.gov/. Staff’s presentation, meeting agenda, and other meeting materials will be posted in advance of the workgroup meeting on CARB’s Advanced Clean Local Truck website at: www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/actruck/actruck.htm. Background: Achieving California’s long-term air quality, climate, and public health goals will require a transition from the conventional combustion technologies to zero emissions everywhere feasible and near-zero emissions powered by clean, low-carbon renewable fuels everywhere else. Promoting the development and use of advanced clean trucks will help achieve emission reductions as outlined in the State Implementation Plan, Senate Bill 350 (de León, Chapter 547, 2015), and Assembly Bill 32 (Nuñez, Chapter 488, 2006). These strategies support CARB’s efforts to protect public health for the millions of Californians that still breathe unhealthy air, reduce exposure to air toxics in disadvantaged communities, and meet California’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets as part of the global action needed to slow global warming and achieve climate stabilization. Advanced Clean Local Trucks specifically aims to complement existing programs to achieve GHG emission reductions through the use of advanced clean technology and to increase the penetration of the first wave of zero emission heavy-duty technology into applications that are well suited to its use.
