Posted: 03 Apr 2017 15:52:28
The California Energy Commission and the California Air Resources Board (ARB) will jointly conduct a workshop to discuss potential methodologies to establish greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets for 2030 to be used by California’s local publicly owned electric utilities (POUs) when preparing their individual integrated resource plans (IRP), as mandated by Senate Bill 350, the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015 (de León, Chapter 547, Statutes of 2015). SB 350 calls for the ARB to establish 2030 GHG reduction targets in coordination with the Energy Commission and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The workshop will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. The location of the workshop will be: CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION 1516 Ninth Street First Floor, Art Rosenfeld Hearing Room Sacramento, California The agenda includes Energy Commission staff presentations on setting GHG baselines and potential methods for determining POU-specific GHG reduction planning targets for 2030. ARB staff will provide a presentation that reiterates the interagency plan for determining a methodology to establish entity-specific targets as described at the February 23, 2017, workshop. POU representatives will provide an overview of their proposed methodology for determining GHG baselines, followed by a roundtable discussion with other POU representatives.
