STOP POLLUTION FROM DIESEL EXHAUST PLEASE--for our health's sake.

 I urge the California Air Resources Board to adopt the strongest
regulation possible to clean up the sources of diesel
particulate matter in California.

Many of us are suffering daily from the poor air quality due to
the particulate matter in the air spewed by buses and trucks. 
Never having smoked, my reduced lung capacity and lung disease is
the result of the air I have been breathing in California.  Due to
the required medications, I have reached the Medicare limit for
covering my prescriptions.  Now I am required to expend $1000s to
purchase the prescribed medications to be able to continue living. 


My situation is mulitplied 1000s of time over and is costing
Medicare $$$$$ not to mention endangering our quality of life.

Pollution from trucks and buses result in an estimated 4,500
premature deaths and 71,000 cases of asthma and lower
respiratory symptoms each year. Equally important, truck drivers
are 1.5 to 2 times as likely as workers not exposed to diesel
exhaust to develop lung cancer during their lives.

PLEASE protect the health of all Californians, AND adopt the
strongest REGULATIONS possible to eliminate diesel particulate
CONTAMINATION in the air we breathe.
