Comment | I understand the need to have properly inflated tires, but to impose penalties on shop owners based on inaccurate roadside checks is beyond reason. The shop owners in ASCCA Chapter 5, which I administrate, are honest and responsible. They check tire pressure properly, as well as the condition of the tires, and report the findings to the customer. Why not go after unlicensed shops or mobile mechanics instead? They are the ones who are most likely to affect the air by providing improper service, including dishonest smog repairs which cause much more greenhouse gas than improper tire pressure. California does not need more regulations which will drive the honest businesses out of the State and leave drivers at the mercy of the dishonest ones who will take advantage of them. Thank you. |
