SubjectTire Pressure Regulation Proposal
Comment
As a taxpayer and consumer, I am shocked that any regulatory agency
in recession torn California could so blatantly waste our scarce
financial resources by once again attempting to legislate common
sense! This proposal is nearly impossible to enforce, and will
cause more waste and damage in paperwork (think of the wasted
trees, ink, electricity and manpower to print and manage this
Goliath undertaking). Who will be reporting those who do not
comply? The auto mechanics? Who will be following up on these
complaints? Either a new enforcement body will have to be created,
causing even more financial hemorrhage, or it will become one more
thing to pile onto our already overburdened law enforcement and
court systems (at taxpayer expense, of course). And since
imprisonment is listed as a possible consequence of non-compliance,
has anyone on the board considered the current overcrowding of our
prisons with REAL criminals? I seem to recall some controversy over
early release of prisoners simply because we don't have room for
them in our jails anymore. Do you really think we should pile on
taxpayers whose crime is insufficient tire inflation? You can bet
that in this economy if an employed taxpayer goes into prison, it
will be an unemployed Welfare recipient who comes out! To make
matters worse, the effect of this proposed legislation on the
global temperature is insignificant. Even if everyone in the state
of California complied (and I can assure you that will not happen),
the global effect would be roughly the same as a fly fart in
Africa. Please look around you at the REAL issues surrounding you
and effecting those you were elected to represent. California
deserves better than this. California's taxpayers are struggling to
make ends meet week to week, don't bully them into financing such
ineffective nonsense.
Sincerely,
Dana Beltz, Taxpayer
