Even though proper tire pressure helps reduce fuel consumption,
using a big government approach to force everybody to check tire
pressure is a bad idea. Fining people $1000 and threatening them
with 6 months jail is not a way to turn people towards saving
energy.

Forcing people or repair shops to check tire pressure or to carry
prove that they have checked tire pressure is such an orwellian
concept, expressing Governments wish to deeply intrude into every
minute facet of peoples daily life.

People will end up paying monthly for something that everybody
used to do for free for themselves.

I have hardly ever had a shop, especially oil change shops,
inflate my tires to the proper pressure. I always end up having to
readjust pressure back to the proper levels after I have been to a
shop. I therefore regularly decline offers when shops want to check
my tire pressure. You are now proposing to make my refusal a
criminal offense.

Why would you draft such a monstrosity of a rule, when you could
have just proposed to voluntarily ask all oil change, tire, and
repair shops to please offer a free tire pressure check as a
courtesy to their customers. Most shops are already doing that
anyways. Why do you have to add fines and threaten shops and
consumers?

Do you want to intentionally alienate the people against helping
you to solve environmental problems.

Sincerely, Hart Fischer
