Comment | Thanks for the opportunity. I appreciate the magnitude of the job you are trying to do, but I cannot understand your position on the plug-in hybrid rules (of course, I could be wrong too). 1. Plenty of aftermarket auto suppliers sell everything from louder motorcyle/ATV mufflers to performance chips to biodiesel conversions, and they apparently don't have to worry much about these kinds of regulations. 2. If you had a good reason to suspect the plug-in kits would violate any safety or emissions standards, AND if you suspected that testing one or two vehicles would be a good statistical sample, AND there is no other way to test them, then examine them, but if this is just an attempt to show you have the power to make the rules, this is not a good example to set. 3. Apparently the consumer is making the choice about durability, and they should be allowed some say in this matter, especially since the numbers are unlikely to be very high, and especially since this appears to be an emissions decision only. 4. How are you going to explain this to your kids? Again, thanks and best wishes. |
