Today, I will be purchasing an all-electric Nissan Leaf - I'm very
excited about this and that I'm doing all I can to protect our air
in California. I need you to be just as proactive in this regard.

It's for this reason that I urge you to uphold and protect
California's low carbon fuel standard. The standard protects the
health of Californians, helps cure us of our dangerous addiction to
oil, and creates jobs producing cleaner fuels to help meet our
long-term climate goals.

By reaffirming your strong support for the standard, you will send
a strong signal that California is serious about moving from being
one of the biggest importers of oil to a leading exporter of clean
energy. The board should also vote to ensure that oil companies are
not only phasing in cleaner fuels, but phasing out the dirtier
ones. I urge you to direct Air Resources Board staff to strengthen
their proposal by ensuring that each oil refinery properly accounts
for its use of dirtier oil sources -- like tar sands -- that only
take us backwards.

Please vote to strengthen California's leadership in clean energy
and reject attempts by oil companies to undermine our low carbon
fuel standard.
