AGENDA ITEM 2 TO BE PRESENTED AT BOARD MEETING.

                               ITEM

Installation Schedule for Retrofit Devices on 1955-65 Motor
Vehicles in the Bay Area.

                          RECOMMENDATION

Adopt Resolution 72-39F.

                            DISCUSSION

On September 27, 1972, the board adopted Resolution 72-39D, which
established a 1955-65 retrofit program in San Diego County on
December 1, 1972 and further established a target date of March
1, 1973 for the Bay Area. Adoption of Resolution 72-39F would
establish March 1, 1973 as the commencement date for installation
of retrofit devices on 1955-65 motor vehicles in the San
Francisco Bay Area.

This commencement date for the Bay Area appears to be acceptable
to General Motors, Air Quality Products, Bureau of Automotive
Repair, Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Highway Patrol. At
the request of the Department of Motor Vehicles, all of Sonoma
and Solano counties are included in the installation program even
though portions of these counties were excluded from the San
Francisco Bay Area Air Basin by the Board in 1971.

                               ITEM

contact Dr. Goldsmith right away if there were any additions or
corrections to the report.

A member of the committee will present the committee's report and
recommendations at this Board meeting.
