Air Basin Boundaries in Siskiyou County.

At the June 16, 1971 meeting, the Board adopted an emergency
regulation (Resolution 71-38) revising the boundaries of the
North Coast Air Basin and the Northeast Plateau Air Basin to
place Siskiyou County entirely within the Northeast Plateau Air
Basin effective July 1, 1971.

This is a public hearing on the air basin boundary changes in
Siskiyou County.  The public hearing, for which a notice was
issued on June 18, 1971, is required to affirm the Board's
emergency action taken at the June 16 meeting.  No statements or
arguments relevant to the emergency action have been received to
date.

Approval of Resolution 71-38A is recommended.

Report on Platinum Catalysts.

At the June 16, 1971 meeting, the Board requested that
representatives of the proposed supplier of platinum catalytic
convertors for the Ford Motor Company be present at the July 21,
1971 meeting to provide information on the availability of
platinum for this purpose.

In response to this request, Mr. R.C. Glogua, President of
Engelhard Industries, supplier of platinum convertors for Ford
vehicles is here to discuss the subject of platinum supply.

Mr. V.W. Makin, President of Matthey-Bishop, Inc.,
manufacturizing and marketing agent for Rustenburg Platinum
Mines, Inc., has indicated in a letter to the Executive Officer
that he would also be here at this meeting to comment on the
questions regarding availability of platinum for emission control
devices.
